Why are some people unhappy about commercial architecture?

In his new book, The Architecture That Changes Lives: How Commercial Architecture Is Changing the World, author Mark Burdon argues that there’s a perception of commercial architecture as a product that only sells itself to people who live in cities, and that, therefore, it’s “not designed to be used in everyday life”.

“I don’t think commercial architecture should be a commodity.

It should be the object of critical thought,” he said in a video interview.

“What is commercial architecture doing to our lives and the way we live in it?

It’s creating new social ills.

It’s changing the way people communicate.

It is destroying our planet.”

Burdon said that many of the problems that commercial architecture creates, like pollution, air pollution and housing issues, are the result of the way commercial design has been developed and sold to the public.

In particular, he points to the “saturated commercial landscape” of the cities that have sprung up around the world in the past 50 years.

Boudewijn Van Hoofden, the Dutch architect behind many of these new developments, has said that the cityscape around him is “a cityscape of destruction”.

Birds, cars, skyscrapers and industrial buildings, and their occupants, have become a common sight, with buildings often appearing in all sorts of locations.

While Burdan has said he has no desire to destroy these new buildings, he believes that “we should be responsible for how we use these buildings”.

“It’s a responsibility that we have to use the architecture we make for the best of our city, but it is also a responsibility to be accountable to the communities and communities who live around them,” he added.

With its many uses, commercial architecture has created a complex environment for its users.

The “discovery of space and a place to live” is central to the urban experience, Burden says, but its impact can be profound.

A number of cities, like New York and Sydney, have adopted innovative approaches to commercial architecture, such as incorporating their urban areas into urban planning.

But some critics of commercial development have also questioned the effectiveness of such designs.

Critics point out that the construction of such structures can create “ghost cities”, in which the space they’re built in becomes a “permanent backdrop to the real world”.

The most common argument against commercial architecture is that it has a negative impact on the environment, Boudewijk van Hoofdeen says.

As a result, the architects argue, there needs to be a more holistic approach to commercial development.

He says that commercial development in urban areas has a “dispersive effect” on the landscape.

One way of thinking about this is that, if a space becomes too small, it becomes too barren, and the buildings are unable to offer enough space to the city.

Some of the new developments Burdun argues that commercial buildings can create are also “dormant spaces” for the community.

This is because, while commercial architecture can create a new form of living space, it can also destroy that space.

For example, the large scale residential developments that are occurring in Dubai, which have created new living spaces for people who can’t afford to live in the city, have been criticised for not being sustainable.

And, as the residential development is built in the middle of the city and not on the street, the surrounding areas become increasingly isolated.

Instead of using the space, the developers have “pushed it further into the ground” with more and more commercial buildings, which can create space for the existing community, but “we are not creating anything new”, he said.

Ultimately, Bredewijk Van Hoosten argues, commercial development “will only increase the environment of the surrounding landscape”.

And it’s the environmental effects of commercial design that he argues are the real reason why so many people dislike commercial architecture.

I don´t think commercial design should be an object of criticism, he said, adding that commercial architects should be accountable for the environment that they create.
